Snowflake photo: Radiant green (1236 x 927)
Prints available at Artist website (mirrors at Pixels and FineArtAmerica).
This is tiny hexagonal plate snowflake, around 1 millimeter from tip to tip. It is slightly asymmetrical, but have its own beauty: in center can be seen subtle green color, caused by Thin film interference. Also, i like outer rim with light blue glow and six interesting elements in the corners, resembling pine trees.
If you are curious about lighting i've used - this is just diffused light of grey cloudy sky: no any tricks was applied.
8 serial RAW photos was averaged to boost signal-to-noise ratio of this image. Background: dark woolen fabric, additional optics Helios 44M-5 was used as magnifier; march 2013, Moscow.
